As technology allows more of private data to be captured and distributed, the importance of privacy and information security is critical for both individuals and the companies. Since BBS times (early 90's), I'm very much interested in security setups. During my first function at Citibank Technology, I had a chance to work on network security. I see that keeping data secure gets more difficult day by day.
We need to invest the right amount of effort in advance otherwise when a security breach happens it is usually too late. Better we never underestimate the risk and take necessary actions (even more) to avoid leakage. Knowing the most recent security issues, holes and attack methods will help a lot as well as understanding how data is being collected about your private life.
I share the basic methods that any individual can apply to reduce the risks. Just keep in mind that there is no completely secure system!
